Pls can u explain, I didnt get it. Wat do u mean by a controlled environment? Is it like, Suppose we are friends and then I am caught in some mishap, you are the only one around to help me. Trust builds up... Is tat how it is?
A controlled environment is some place where the elements are more or less in our control so we can help new comers by bonding with them. Take the case of a school, collage, office, firm, community, and locality we move into, only those within can provide us with the emotional support needed to blend in.... and so on and so on ;)
It has parallels in all types of situations and all types of relationships. I was outlining the most obvious ones. It could work within friendships too ;)

oh ok... I interpreted it as, a real need brings out your underlying feeling for the other person...
